Get in touch with us if you are planning to hold an event on or in the water- a swimming event or race, sailing, kayaking, jet ski or other boating race.
Send us information about your event by downloading one of the editable forms below and emailing us the information at harbours@gw.govt.nz:
We will:
- Check your event does not clash with another major activity on the water
- Provide advice on other safety precautions, such as checking the weather, good communications and monitoring shipping movements during the event.
- Check you have made adequate safety provisions for your event, and decide if you need dispensation from any Navigation and Safety Bylaws, e.g. uplifting of speed restrictions to hold a speed boat regatta, or an exemption to participants wearing lifejackets for an event
