Restoration Week 2023

For over 20 years, the annual Restoration Day has given networking and learning opportunities to keen conservationists in the Wellington region. The event recognises and thanks the efforts of local volunteers.

This year, we held Restoration Week. From 21 – 28 May 2023 we held an exciting line-up of webinars, wānanga, and workshops. We learned skills from experts, and best practice techniques, and shared stories and information while networking with each other.

This is a collaborative event delivered by Greater Wellington, Department of Conservation, Wellington City Council, Porirua City Council, Mountains to Sea Wellington, Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, Kapiti Coast District Council, Hutt City Council, Upper Hutt City Council, Te Herenga Waka Wellington University, Wellington Zoo, and Zealandia.

Te Taiao Webinar Series

This year, we held a 6-night series of webinars covering key areas of te taiao restoration across the Wellington region.

Hosted by Nick Tansley, local experts shared updates on various topics including waterways and coastlines, pest animals, pest plants, community successes, and the future of restoration mahi across Te Upoko o Te Ika ā Maui.
