Hutt River tour

  • Published Date 25 Feb 2020

Following Greater Wellington Regional Council's full council meeting on Thursday 27 February, there will be a three-hour tour of the Hutt River with discussions on important collaborative projects.

Councillors from Upper Hutt City Council, Hutt City Council and Greater Wellington will visit sites along the river which will provide a snapshot of work being carried out within the catchment of Te Awa Kairangi to manage flood risks for the communities of Hutt City and Upper Hutt City.

Discussions will involve regulatory controls, ongoing maintenance, and major investments happening right now and in the near future to deliver Greater Wellington's Regional Resilience priority outcome.

The tour will show how using these activity-based investments, Greater Wellington is supporting delivery of freshwater quality and biodiversity, public transport priority outcomes, and moving towards greater integration and partnership between Greater Wellington, mana whenua, local government and central government agencies.

The bus will depart at 1.15pm from Fraser Park and return at 4.15pm. Any media wishing to join on the day please contact me directly to set up interviews and photo opportunities.
