More park and ride for Kāpiti commuters

  • Published Date 21 Oct 2015

Finding a park at Paraparaumu and Waikanae stations is set to get a whole lot easier, so you can say goodbye to that long drive in and out of Wellington each day.

New park and ride facilities, being created soon for both stations, are designed to make it easier and more convenient for you to take the train.

By the end of the year, there'll be space for around 130 more cars at Paraparaumu, across the road from the current Park and Ride. And there will be room for up to 250 more at Waikanae, on the corner of Te Moana Road and SH1. We plan to allow interim parking on the Waikanae site from around late November while we wait for construction to start in January.

When finished, the new park and ride facilities  will mean you can simply leave your car at Paraparaumu or Waikanae, hop on the train and relax while you catch up on the news, begin your work day, chat to a friend or just while away your time with music or a novel.

More parking will be available at Paraparaumu by the end of the year.
