This report summarises the key results of water quality, sediment quality and ecological health monitoring undertaken in the Wellington region’s near-shore coastal environment for the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013.

Note that the suitability of coastal waters for contact recreation purposes is assessed separately under Greater Wellington Regional Council’s recreational water quality monitoring programme (see Morar & Greenfield 2013).
